FUNDING AND DONATIONS
A Judicial Review usually costs between $60–$80k… but thanks to our amazing legal team working pro bono and a dedicated admin crew behind the scenes, we’ve managed to keep costs right down. After crunching the numbers, the DLMC Society Committee estimates we’ll need about $14k in total to cover the legal fight, print signs, run events, place ads, and handle admin.
So far, we’ve raised around $7k from hundreds of generous donors and Society members - an incredible show of support! But we still need a little more to hold the Puketāpapa Local Board to account in the High Court.
We know times are tough, and every dollar counts. But we’ve come too far to fall short now. If you believe Monte Cecilia Park should remain a safe, joyful haven for our off‑leash friends, please chip in whatever you can. Together, we can see this through
THE LEGAL STUFF
Our amazing legal team are working on a pro-bono (free) basis. They may choose to recover costs from the Council if/when we win our case in the High Court.
The DLMC Society have agreed to pay for the mandatory Court costs - these include filing fees, printing fees, hearing costs and all the other charges that are incurred in a Judicial Review
Our team of superstars are dog lovers and committed to our fight, they have already succeeded in winning an Interim Order to keep the off-leash area at Monte until the High Court hears the case on the 24th and 25th of February 2026.
EVIDENCE AND DISCOVERY
We have asked for and received copies of hundreds of emails, dozens of Council papers and other related evidence through the legal process.
Our admin team are going through these with our lawyers to ensure that we bring transparency to the inner workings of the Local Board.
We are committed to leaving no stone unturned
